How to Repair the Automatic Transmission Not Shifting

How to repair the automatic transmission not shifting.

Model: Centennial LZ

Year Model: 2006

Fuel: Gasoline

Displacement: 3500cc

Subject: Automatic Transmission not shifting.

1) Condition

  1. Automatic transmission moving on drive position.
  2. excessive shock shifting in reverse position.

2) Cause

  1. Trans axle Switch.

3) Diagnosis

  1. Scan tool check
    = P0705 Transaxle range switch.

The TCM monitors this voltage, which corresponds to the position of the transaxle gear shift lever to determine desired gear and electronic pressure control pressure. The transaxle range switch is located on the top of the transaxle ,and also contains the neutral/start circuit.
  2. Check the transaxle range switch service data
    a) connect G_Scan to data link connector.
    b) Check the transaxle range switch output when at its position.
    IS there Continuity?
NO or YES=Problem is intermittent check the transaxle control cable.

  3. Check the transaxle range switch connector.
    a)
Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the transaxle range switch connector.
    b) Check that the transaxle range switch connector for loosed, poor connection, bent ,corrosion, contamination, deterioration or damage.
    Is there continuity?
YES  or NO= repair or replace as necessary.

  4. Check the transaxle range switch continuity
    1)
Disconnect the transaxle range switch connector.
    2) Check for continuity between terminal 3 and terminal 8,9,10 when the shift lever position “ P”
    3) Check for continuity between terminal 7 and terminal 8when set the shift lever position to “R”
    4) Check the continuity between terminal 4 and terminal 8,9,10 When set the shift lever position “N:
    5) Check for continuity between terminal 1 and terminal 8 when set the shift lever position “D”
    6) Check for the continuity between terminal 5 and terminal 8 when set the shift lever position ‘3’.
    7) Check for continuity between terminal 2 and terminal 8  when the shift lever position 2.
    8) Check for continuity between terminal6 and 8 when set the shift lever position” L”

    Is there continuity?
YES        NO= Repair or replace as necessary.

  5. Check the transaxle range switch harness.
    1)
Turn the ignition switch off and disconnect the transaxle range switch connector.
    2) Turn the ignition switch ON.
    3) Measure the voltage between the transaxle range switch connector terminal 8 and body ground.
    Is there voltage?
YES         NO=Repair or replace as necessary.

  6. Check the transaxle range switch harness
    1)
Turn the switch off and disconnect the transaxle range switch connector and TCM connector.
    2) Check the continuity between the transaxle range switch connector terminal 1 and the TCM harness connector terminal D2/C17.
    3) Check the continuity between the transaxle range switch connector terminal 2 and the TCM harness connector terminal D22/C18.
    4) Check the continuity between the transaxle range switch connector terminal 3 and the TCM harness connector terminal D1/C5.
    5) Check the continuity between the transaxle range switch connector terminal 4 and the TCM harness connector terminal D21/C6.
    6) Check the continuity between the transaxle range switch connector terminal 5 and the TCM harness connector terminal D9/C7.
    7) Check the continuity between the transaxle range switch connector terminal 6 and the TCM harness connector terminal D10/C8.
    8) Check the continuity between the transaxle range switch connector terminal 7 and the TCM harness connector terminal D8/C16.
    Is there continuity?
YES         NO= Repair or Replace as Necessary

  7. Replace The TCM
    1)
Disconnect the battery (-) terminal and disconnect the TCM connector.
    2) Replace the TCM.
