How does CVVT Works In An Engine?

General Description:

The CVVT( Continuously Variable Valve Timing) System is installed to the chain sprocket of the intake camshaft. This system controls the intake camshaft to provide the optimal valve timing for every driving condition. The ECM controls the oil control valve (OCV), based on the signal output from mass airflow, throttle position and engine coolant temperature. The CVVT controller regulates the intake camshaft angle using oil pressure through the OCV. As Result, the relative position between the camshaft and the crankshaft becomes optimal, and the engine torque improves, fuel economy improves, exhaust emission decrease under driving conditions.

“How to Test the Electronic Voltage Regulator”

This the continuation of Regulated Voltage Test Study 4.
TEST:
  1. Turn On the Ignition switch and check to see the voltage indicates the following value.

    Voltage: Battery Voltage.

If reads 0V, there is an open circuit in the wire between the alternator “B” terminal and the battery and the battery (-) terminal.
  2. Start the engine. keeps all light and accessories off.
  3. Run the engine at the speed of about 2,500 rpm and read the voltmeter when the alternator output current drops to 10A or less.
RESULT:
  1. If the voltmeter reading agrees with the value listed  in the regulating voltage table below, the voltage regulator is functioning correctly. If the reading is other than the standard value, the voltage regulator or alternator is faulty.

    REGULATING VOLTAGE TABLE:

    Voltage regulator ambient                              Regulating Voltage
        temperature *c(*F)
        -30 (-22)                                                 14.2~ 15.3

“Charging System of an Automobile Study 3”

= Output Current Test=
* This test determines whether or not the alternator gives an output current that is equivalent to the normal output.
PREPARATION:
  1. Prior to the test, check the following items and correct as necessary. Check the battery installed in the vehicle to ensure that is good condition. the battery checking method is described in the section “Battery”. The battery that is used to test the output current should be that has been partially discharged. With a fully charge battery, the test may not be conducted correctly due to an insufficient load. Check the tension of the alternator drive belt”.
  2. Turn off the ignition switch.
  3. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  4. Disconnect the alternator output wire from the alternator “B” terminal.
  5. Connect a DC Ammeter () to 15A) in series between the “B” terminal and disconnected output wire. Be sure to connect the (-) lead wire of the Ammeter to the disconnected output wire.

    NOTE:
    =
Tightened its connection surely, as a heavy current will flow.
  6. Connect a volt meter(0 to 20V) between the “B” terminal and ground. Connect the (+) lead wore to the alternator “B” terminal and (-) lead wire to a good ground.
  7. Attach an engine tachometer and connect the battery ground cable.
  8. Lead the engine hood cable.
TEST:
  1. Check to see that the voltmeter reads as the same value as the battery voltage. If the voltmeter read 0V, and the open circuit in the wire between alternator “B” terminal and battery (-) terminal or poor grounding is suspected.
  2. Start the engine and turn on the headlamps.
  3. Set the headlamps to high beam and the heater blower to high, quickly increase the engine speed to 2,500 rpm and read the maximum output current value indicated by the ammeter.

    NOTE:
After the engine start up, the charging current quickly drops.
Therefore, the above operation must be done quickly to read the maximum current value correctly.
RESULT:
  1. The ammeter reading must be higher than the limit value. If it is lower but the alternator output wire is in good condition, remove the alternator from the vehicle and test it.
    Limit value: 91A min.(130A alternator.

    NOTE:
    1) The nominal output current value is shown on the nameplate affixed to the alternator body.
    2) The output current value changes with the electrical load and the temperature of the alternator itself.
Therefore, the nominal output current may not be obtained. if such is the case, keeps the headlamps on the cause discharge of the battery, or use the lights of the another vehicle to increase the electrical load.
The nominal current may not be obtained if the temperature of the alternator irself or ambient temperature is too high.
In such a case, reduce the temperature before testing again.
  2. Upon completion of the output current test, lower the engine speed to idle and turn off the ignition switch.
  3. Disconnect the ground cable.
  4. Remove the voltmeter and the ammeter  and tachometer.
  5. Connect the alternator output wire to the alternator “B” terminal.
  6. Connect the battery ground cable.

Stopped Hyundai Motor’s Production in India

MUMBAI: A strike that stopped Hyundai Motor's production in India for two days was called off on Wednesday night after India's top car exporter agreed to consider rehiring dozens of workers dismissed in the wake of violent protests, the company said.
In government-brokered talks, Hyundai agreed to consider reinstating on ``humanitarian grounds'' 35 employees who were dismissed after earlier protests, the company said in a statement. A committee of company and government officials and workers will together decide on rehiring.
Hyundai had already taken back 20 of the 87 workers fired after protesters damaged property and beat up guards and was reluctant to rehire more lest it set a bad example of impunity.
"The problem is 80 percent OK," K. Thangapandian, vice president of the Hyundai Motor India Employees Union, which led the strike, said in an interview Wednesday.
Thangapandian said 200 workers arrested Tuesday when police entered the factory and broke the strike would likely be released by Thursday evening.
As part of the deal, Hyundai has agreed to reinstate them in their jobs and without punishment, he said.
This is the fourth strike since 2008 at Hyundai's plants in Sriperumbedur, outside the growing auto hub of Chennai, in the southern state of Tamil Nadu.
Persistent labour unrest has pushed Hyundai, which pioneered the idea of using India as a small car production hub, to move some production to Turkey, closer to its major export market of Europe.
The two-day stoppage resulted in losses of about $28 million, Hyundai said. more info

The Alternator has eight built-in diodes, each rectifying AC current to DC current.
Therefore, DC current appears at alternator "B" terminal.
In addition, the charging voltage of this alternator is regulated by the battery voltage detection system.
The alternator is regulated by the battery voltage detection system. The main components of the alternator are the rotor, stator, rectifier, capacitor brushes, bearings and V-ribbed belt pulley. The brush holder contains a built-in electronic voltage regulator.

GENERAL DISCRIPTION
=
According to the General Description of this Trouble code,The CVVT(Continuously Variable Valve Timing). This system Controls the intake camshaft to provide the optimal valve timing for every driving condition. The ECM(Engine Control Unit) controls the OCV, based on the signal output from the mass air flow, Throttle Position and engine coolant temperature. The CVVT controller regulates the intake camshaft angle using oil pressure through the OCV. As a result , the relative position between crankshaft and camshaft become optimal, and the engine torque improves, fuel economy improves, exhaust emissions decrease under overall driving conditions.

= Try a good condition OCV, As a result the Engine operates normally.

4) Repair Guide:

Replace Parts:

  1. CKP(Crankshaft Position Sensor)
  2. OCV(Oil Control Valve)

Hyundai Coupe/Tiburon First began production

Tiburon first began production in late 1996. It was available in a few foreign markets with engine choices of either 1.6L or 1.8L. In the United States, the Tiburon was first offered in 1997 with base models using the Elantra's 1.8L 130 hp (97 kW) engine while the upscale FX received a 2.0L four-cylinder engine. The 2.0L was rated at 140 hp (104 kW) at the crankshaft (the car's manual specifies 102 kW (137 hp) at the flywheel). Base weight was around 2,550 lb (1,150 kg), giving the RD Tiburon a higher power to weight ratio than the newer GK 2.0L. The 2.0L produces a 0–60 mph time of ~8.2,[3] with a 1/4 mile time of ~16 seconds. In 1998 the Tiburon lost its weaker 1.8L engine, giving both models the 2.0L. All versions of the Tiburon manufactured from 1996–2002 are known as "RD" Tiburons. There were various options, with or without ABS, 2 airbags, leather, and sunroof.
Various special editions were also produced, focusing primarily on cosmetic modifications and improvements. In the UK, Hyundai's entrance into the Formula 2 World Rally Championships saw the release of the "F2" and "F2 Evolution" models in 1998 and 1999 respectively.
The F2 modifications included a front spoiler lip, mesh grill, 16" mesh alloy wheels (with Pirelli P7000 tyres), uprated Sony stereo, customised sill plates and gearstic
