Example showing determination of speed of vehicle in front

As the vehicle in front speeds up, the distance
increases. On account of the Doppler
effect, the frequency of the received
(reflected) signal decreases (ΔfD).
This results in a difference in differential frequencies
between leading (Δf1) and trailing
edge (Δf2). This difference is evaluated by the
distance control unit.
